Producing a show is nowhere as easy as it seems!

After watching four of my team mates produce live shows throughout this year, I thought I would put myself forward to lead the final year show for my team. I had a clear brief that I created a running order and an outline of a forty-five minute show that I presented, first to my group and then to the Exec-producers and The Mary Rose clients. I must be getting better at pitching because there were not issues or comments about me getting the role!

Although, everyone seemed to really enjoy my shows treatment, it became very clear to me how much work goes into making a live Outside Broadcast, and how much scheduling, organising and liaising it truly takes.

Although we are only in the beginning stages of production at the moment the show goes LIVE on the 2nd JUNE this year! A show ecploring the HUMAN EN-DEVOURS that went into finding and raising the MAry Rose from her watery deathbed! Talking to Divers and family members involved, we hope to share never been told stories behind her raising!

So in less than a month I shall be producing a LIVE Outside Broadcast on location, making sure every little item is planned down to the last detail, and that everything goes smoothly... Fingers Crossed!

Producing the Live show was a great experience, although stressful at times, I was happy with the outcome. After nearly everything that could of gone wrong happening during the rehearsal and Live show, such as the sun glare on the auto-cue, military gun drills from docked ships while live, and no link to the satellite delaying our show, I am very proud of the way my team and I adapted. It highlighted the fact that on a Live broadcast, no matter how much you prepare for different scenarios, there will always be something you have to adapt to. Fortunately for me the presenters I chose were able to take everything happening around them lightheartedly and incorporate it into the show.

This experience alone showed me how much pressure can be placed on a producer from a lot of different parties involved. It also demonstrated how vital organisation and delegation is within prerecords or the live broadcast when wanting to produce to a high standard.

Extremely happy to say this OB is something I am very proud of, and undeniably thankful for the great people, and team, that helped me bring my show to life.
