So when you're a child and say I want to watch TV when I grow up?

Turns out that job... it exists!

I work as a Quality Control and assurance (QC&A) operator. My team and I make sure all audio, visual and quality of Sky’s content is up to broadcasting standard, before it gets uploaded for customer consumption. Coming up with creative solutions to problems that arise.

Before you get too excited and think all I do is watch TV all do there is a bit more too it. I have learnt how to use Sky's networking systems and software to ensure each asset (TV show/film) is assessed correctly.

My love is Live production, and you might think I made a side step into watching it rather than creating it. Reality is, you do not just walk into production jobs, it takes time, hard work and focus.

My first Job for SKY was QC&A for the OTT team, where I checked content was on the platform and playing out correctly for our customers. This is one of Sky's entry level jobs, and although it didn't fit my skill set at the time, I realise that any type of learning in the industry is highly important! I've made Live shows and pre-recordings at university and I am still learning other roles that exist behind the scenes!

I moved within my first year to the VOD (Video on Demand) team because I am always looking for new ways to learn new things. Being forward looking and restless is defiantly not a bad thing, it helps you learn fast and pushes you to further your skill set.

My first year in Sky has been packed with interesting turns and some set backs, but you should always look at it as though you are still moving forward! My favorite part of this year has been the amazing people that I work with and for. They are constantly supporting me and making sure I have what I need to exceed expectations!

Now talking about Sky as a company to work for...

Do it!

That's really all I can say! I may be a little bias, but hear me out. They celebrate as many religious events and important days as possible to make every one feel included! They celebrate creative people and collaboration, while also making sure we have everything we could possible need right there on site. When I say everything I really do mean everything! (Gym, hairdressers, post-office, dry-cleaners, salon, to me than five places to eat! As soon as I started I felt like one of the team and everyone, including the big bosses, made me feel welcome. I have felt appreciated and recognised for the work I am doing everyday, while also knowing there is always going to be opportunities for me to learn and grow!

I am determined to eventually make it into a Live studio, but for now anything Sky want's to teach me I am willing to learn with an open mind.

I cannot wait to see what lies ahead of me!
