Filmed and edited Sandi Toksvig...

 Inner me was beyond excited!

Mike Bushell BBC Visited!

Getting insider knowledge is always a plus!

After attending a lecture about working, presenting and writing for the television industry it was a real treat to meet Mike. After answering all of my questions happily took a picture with a group of us, and made me realise people in the television are just like us, but with more experience under their belt. It was also nice to here how impressed with the workflow and practices implemented by the television and broadcasting students managed to do at the university.

Working for the university can get a bit boring if you are just doing the same old thing... But when you get to meet amazing people who you have looked up to since you were a kid it becomes something amazing! I had the most amazing time listening and meeting Sandi Toksvig at the Express FM welcoming to the University's Eldon building. I filmed the event for future editing purposes and Live for the Big Screen. I even found being asked to edit a short piece of her speech pretty great. I get to edit all the time, but editing someone who makes you laugh without trying is a fantastic thing!

Am I ever going to come down to Earth?

Live Broadcast with Tim Peake!

Again working for the university just seems to have never ending perks! Working the in the night team, I got to be a camera operator for a Live broadcasted event that hosted Tim Peake! Thats right, I never thought I'd be in the same room as someone who has been to space. The event really gave me an idea of what filming live events could be like and that you always have to pay attention to you camera (because everyone outside the event is only seeing what you show them!).

Walk in the park.

Putting on a Live show for potential students...

After starting working for the Open Day production team in 2016, I quickly released that even if there are not many of you in a team, if you all listen and bring your A game there is no reason why you can't pull of a great show! I't been a great two years working with an ever-changing team and now it's my tearn to leave. This experience in particular helped me be more confident and comfortable putting myself forward for roles such as director and producer, that I would have never gone for before I joined them.

Keeping in the loop.

Kevin Moorhouse  (MD of Gearhouse broadcast) brings exciting prospects

After a great talk with Kevin Moorhouse at the university, I am more sure now than ever that television and broadcasting was the right choice for me. With such a similar mindset and amazing stories, Kevin helped me realise there was more to television than just production and video shoots! I could even travel the world doing what I Love, and in Kevin's words, the gamble might be worth it.
