I'm probably one of the lucky few that got to learn what they love at university. It gave me opportunity to focus on building my strengths, and strengthening my weakness, to a point where I finally feel confident enough to take part in the world that I love. That world, however, just seems to keep growing! Jobs I didn't know existed surfaced... that's when my brain did its normal thing and said "GO FOR IT"!

Personally I am driven to learn any and all things I have the opportunity to, in or outside of production. I learnt set design in Volunteer work, I learn new camera software in my internship, I even got to learn how to melt plastic to cover a camera so no-one could find it. My life has been full of amazing opportunities and I got another one when I interviewed to be a Quality control and assurance operator for Sky. Whats that? Well in my view it's an in house customer that makes sure every piece of content viewed by Sky's costumer is exactly what they are paying for. I started in OTT (over the top), but withing 6 months found myself interviewing for VoD (Video on Demand) department. I get to learn how different teams in a giant broadcasting company communicate in order to deliver. I also get to use software I had never heard of to make sure audio, visual and quality are up to standards... In the very simplest terms, I get to watch TV for a living! I'm living a young kids dream!

Nothing about me getting this job was conventional, starting with the first phone call to set up a date. I was 2 hours into a very long journey with my family in that car, in the middle of the motor way! Then when I got to the interview there was a mix-up and I was sent away only to get a phone call two minutes later telling me to come back... not the typical stages I can assure you. The people were fantastic during the interview. Now, my team mates are reliable and productive, and the work environment is incredible! Within my first couple of days of starting my new job, my first step on my TV career journey, I realised that people were willing to give you answers, no matter their 'status' if you were willing to ask and listen to what they had to teach. It didn't take me long however, to realise a 2 hour train journey was not going to work every shift there and back after a 12 hour shift... So I promptly moved closer and continued on my journey. Everywhere you work has it's perks, like meeting Anthony Joshua at a Christmas tree lighting!

Although, its not at all what I though my life would be. I don't think I will ever lose the love and passion I have for production, but I value everyday at Sky. Not only because it is honestly a great company trying to listen to it's employees, but because it is still offering me chances to learn everyday.

I will be in production one day, soon or not, I will continue to work hard, knuckle down, and learn as much as possible until I get there, because that what I think life is for. If you want something the only real way to get it is to earn it and I am willing to go the extra mile if it means the chance to work in my dream job in production could be in my future!
