So, you’d think after creating and completing a Live show we would have a more secure understanding of what was expected of us. WRONG! I have no idea what my course leader was thinking when he gave my group Sustainability for a TV show brief! Want to talk about throwing us in the deep end. Oh, not too sure what that means? Don’t worry neither did we! It was hard to get my head around the meaning, let alone create an entire show. Only one thing would work… Research!

(Sustainability - Something that can be maintained indefinably without producing waste.)

Now faced with the daunting task of explaining that to an audience it really felt like the process just seemed to be getting harder, and it was eating into precious filming and editing schedule. Teaching us that you really do always need a backup plan!

What could we do that was different? What were some opportunities available to only us? And how do we utilise them to make the best show possible? After getting in touch with some amazing companies, such as BAFTA and Land Rover BAR (Ben Ainslie Racing), we finally had the shows content! We felt on a role…

Unfortunately, after making the amateur mistake of crossing the 180-degree line of sight in one of our pre-recorded interviews, the process was a crucial moment in my learning process. This second show seemed to be the one that really presented problems… It asked for a Live Performance… Let that sink in. A live performance… about sustainability? Teaching me that not everything in life will just work out and you really must be creative and resilient to produce a product that is broadcast worthy.

I was extremely happy that all this happened the way it did. In fact, I am completely thankful for every mistake and problem I faced in this shows creation. It meant I made mistakes now, and get to keep them as constant reminders to never make them again! While showing me thinking on my toes will be my best friend in years to come.
